Rose Sedgwick
Veterinary Surgeon - BVSc MRCVS
Rose Sedgwick is a highly skilled veterinary surgeon who graduated from Liverpool University with a BVSc and is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). In addition to her professional life, she enjoys a variety of personal interests. She's a devoted cat owner to her feline companion, Lagatha, and finds relaxation in the simple pleasures of reading. For more active pursuits, she loves walking and camping in the beautiful Lake District. A self-proclaimed foodie, Rose also enjoys discovering and eating delicious meals.

Mary Roderick
Practice Manager
Mary Roderick is our dedicated practice manager, who joined us in 2018. With an impressive career spanning over 40 years, she has a profound love for the veterinary industry, which began when she worked as a vet nurse. Her extensive experience has allowed her to progress from clinical roles to practice management. In her spare time, Mary finds joy in cooking and spending time with friends. She also dotes on her lovely Yorkshire Terrier, Marge.

Cheryl Holdsworth
Owner, Vet
I qualified from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh University many moons ago. I have enjoyed nearly thirty years working in small animal clinics, including emergency and charity work. I really love medicine cases and working alongside our local Cats Protection charity and occasionally the Sowerby Bridge Geese!
I am very proud to have been building our clinic up for the past twenty years, maintaining our family run approach and providing high quality care.
Away from the clinic, I like to stay active with yoga, running, wildswimming and walking our two dogs, Orielle and Charlie Brown.

Chloe Dunn
Veterinary Nurse
Chloe Dunn joined the team in 2016 with her Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. She has always had her heart set on a career with animals, admitting she prefers pets to people—and who can blame her! When she's not busy at work, you can find her on the netball court or curled up with a good book. At home, she's kept on her toes by her two dogs, Barney and Clover, and her cat, Timothy.

Helen Mctier
Veterinary Nurse
Helen is a highly experienced veterinary nurse who earned her Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2013 after training at The Friendly Animal Clinic. Her extensive background in an emergency hospital has honed her skills and passion for surgery, emergency, and critical care.
Outside of her professional life, Helen loves to travel, and in her
spare time, she enjoys taking long walks and visiting Scotland with herbeloved cocker spaniel, Dottie.

Myles Holdsworth
Owner, Vet
Myles qualified from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh University in 1996. He has experience working with animals of all sizes and is interested in small animal surgical techniques. Myles regularly completes surgical training in Germany and the UK to learn new advanced techniques and keep his knowledge up to date.
Myles takes care of the pet travel certificates and also works in industry in export certification. In his spare time he enjoys running and keeping fit and hopes to be 'race-fit' again sometime soon!

Ellie Bamforth
Student Veterinary Nurse
Ellie Bamforth is a first-year student veterinary nurse at The College of Animal Welfare. She has a deep love for caring for animals, especially cats. So far in her training, Ellie has particularly enjoyed working in the lab, where she runs blood tests and examines samples under the microscope. She also finds great satisfaction in looking after hospital patients in the kennels. In her spare time, Ellie enjoys baking and going for relaxing walks.

Katie Allen
Veterinary Nurse
Katie Allen is a qualified veterinary nurse, having earned her BSc Hons in Veterinary Nursing in 2021. Driven by a desire for a career that offers both enjoyment and fulfillment, she finds particular satisfaction in monitoring patients under general anesthetic and assisting with surgical nursing. In her free time, Katie loves to travel, listen to music, and attend live gigs. She is also a proud cat owner to her beloved cat, Maple.

Sarah Vinters
Veterinary Receptionist
Sarah Vinters has dedicated her career to animal welfare, working as a veterinary receptionist for 16 years, beginning in a charity role. Her passion for animals extends beyond her job, as she loves caring for other people's pets in her free time. When she's not at work, Sarah enjoys an active social life, frequently meeting friends for brunch and enjoying long walks.

Brandon Cope
Veterinary Receptionist
Brandon Cope is an experienced veterinary receptionist with seven yearsof experience in the field. He holds a Zoology degree from Liverpool John Moores University and has a strong passion for animal conservation.
In his free time, Brandon enjoys playing pool and tending to his garden. At home, he is the proud owner of three cats named Bats, Mama, and Sebastian

Ellie Kershaw
Student Veterinary Nurse
Ellie is an enthusiastic student veterinary nurse preparing to start her second year of training at the College of Animal Welfare as an apprentice. With a lifelong interest in animals, particularly dogs and the medical industry, she has a natural passion for caring for animals when they are at their most vulnerable. Ellie enjoys every aspect of her work in the veterinary practice, with a special interest in surgery and patient care. In her free time, she loves to go on walks with her dog, Roxy, as well as socialising and taking day trips to the Lake District.

Holly Marshall
Veterinary Nurse
Holly Marshall is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a degree in Veterinary Nursing. She has been a valued
member of The Friendly Animal Clinic since 2018, where her passion for animal care and her commitment to providing the highest standards of nursing have made her a beloved member of the team.
Growing up surrounded by a variety of pets, Holly always knew she wanted a career working with animals. Her childhood experiences sparked a deep desire to help animals in need, and she has worked tirelessly to make that dream a reality. Holly’s love for animals shines through in every aspect of her work, whether she’s assisting in medical procedures, providing support to pet owners, or offering a comforting presence to pets in need of care.
Outside of her professional life, Holly enjoys socialising with friends and exploring the local food scene—she’s always on the lookout for new restaurants and great dining experiences. She shares her home with her
two beloved Sphynx cats, Ripley and Marceline, who keep her company and remind her daily of the joy that animals bring to life.

Zoe Frankland
Veterinary Nurse
I’m a qualified veterinary nurse, having earned my qualification in 2001, and I’ve been part of the Friendly Animal Clinic team since it first opened over 20 years ago. I’ve always enjoyed the challenges of emergency work, and one of the things I love most about my job is that no two days are ever the same — plus, I get to work alongside an incredible team of nurses who make every day rewarding.
Outside of work, I have two grown-up daughters, two lively Border Terriers, and a Jack Russell Terrier. Over the years, my daughters and I have enjoyed showing ponies, and I now have a Welsh Section C who keeps me busy. At home, I keep chickens and enjoy spending time in the garden.

Holly Talbot
Veterinary Surgeon
Holly is a qualified veterinary surgeon who graduated from the University of Nottingham. Dedicated to providing the highest standard ofcare, Holly is passionate about promoting animal health and building strong, trusting relationships with both pets and their owners.
Outside of her professional life, Holly enjoys staying active through running, going to the gym, and exploring the great outdoors on nature walks. A keen traveller, she loves discovering new places and experiences around the world. Holly is also a devoted Border Terrier enthusiast, with a special soft spot for the breed’s lively and loyal personality.

Simon Carmichael
Veterinary Surgeon
Simon is a qualified veterinary surgeon who earned his degree from the University of Bristol. Passionate about animal health and well being, Simon brings expertise, compassion, and dedication to every patient he treats.
Outside of his veterinary work, Simon loves exploring new cultures and cuisines while travelling the world. At home, he enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and unwinding with a good glass of whiskey. He shares his life with two beloved cats, Olive and Mole, who are constant sources of amusement and affection.

Sarah McConnachie
Admin and Certification
Sarah has been a valued member of our team for over 15 years, working mainly away from public view on the Certification side of the Clinic's work, so you might not spot her very often! Sarah will be your contact for Pet Travel helping you navigate the requirements to make your holidays plans come to fruition.
Sarah has developed a thorough understanding of certification processes and transport logistics and her commitment to maintaining the highest standards have made her an integral part the services we offer to our clients. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her two Border Collies, Gyp and Islay.
A passionate dog enthusiast, she actively competes in dog shows across the country, where her dogs have achieved numerous championship titles. Her dedication to the sport has also earned her a lifetime qualification for Crufts — a highly impressive testament to her skill, patience, and love for her dogs.
